It's A Gift

…some thoughts about gifts and giving and about life in general

Do You Use Gifts as Part of Your Marketing Strategy?

This morning, I had a ten minute time slot to try to bring the rest of my networking group (Profit Rockets BNI) up to speed on using gifts as part of their business marketing. With a guiding philosophy of “Givers Gain”, you’d think that most members would get the connection, but all too often, when the subject of gifts and gift baskets comes up, my fellow entrepreneurs immediately think of gift needs they might have in their personal lives, but fail to think about how gifts might work for them in their business pursuits.

I’m asking any business person who reads this the same questions I asked them: 1. Do you have competitors?
2. How do you differentiate yourself and your business from the rest?

You don’t have to spend a fortune to add business gifts to your marketing arsenal. Sometimes even a small, inexpensive gift can have a big impact on your bottom line.

The doctor who tried using the above gifts to set himself apart from the competition was happy to find that the operating room staff were at least as impressed as his patient was. He has created a lot of positive “buzz” for himself at very little cost.

When I think of all the money I’ve spent over the years on various forms of advertising, I wish that I’d had the foresight to take a more targeted approach, utilizing gifts! This is truly a “win-win” proposition. You get both the psychological plus associated with giving and positive branding for your business and your client gets a gift rather than just a sales pitch. Which would you rather find in your mailbox — a bunch of sales fliers or a gift?
